Helme Park Hall Hotel
Since it was built in 1643, Helme Park Hall has had a range of occupants and functions. Variously a distinguished family home, later the residence of Colonel Stobart Commandant of the nearby Second World War Prisoner of War Camp, and more recently Regional Headquarters of the Forestry Commission.
The Hall was established as an Hotel in 1987, and was purchased by its present owner, David Ratliff, in 2003. David, the experienced Managing Director of a small group of family businesses, has quickly and effectively refined the operational function of the Hotel and as a result, in late 2006, the Hall was awarded the Visit Britain Quality in Tourism Three Star Standard
Under its new ownership, Helme Park Hall has been re-vitalised adding to previous years good repeat business and goodwill, and over the last three years it has built up an impressive repeat- business portfolio. Local residents find the Bar a warm retreat after a busy work day, and visitors to the Hotel and the Region share its friendly atmosphere with them.
Perched on the side of the Wear Valley with fabulous panoramic views of the Durham Dales, Helme Park Hall offers seclusion yet at the same time accessibility from the nearby A68.
Significant Conference and Function business, again much of it on a repeat basis, has also been generated as a result of the efforts of the Management Team and Staff. They have consistently demonstrated their capacity to empathise with the requirements of function organisers, and every event finds the Team engaged in a detailed needs analysis. Nothing is left to chance
